You are encouraged to take advantage of the early registration reduced rate of $125.00 (until May 31, 2019). This will save the attendees some money and just as importantly give Chapter 68 a clearer picture of expected attendance. Due to a late start, we greatly appreciate the assistance of getting the information out as soon as possible.
You can find the hotel reservation codes on the attached welcome letter. The convention rate block is good until June 30, 2019 so make sure to reserve your rooms early.
Some highlights:
– All hotel room blocks include breakfast (continental, full-serve or $10.00 credit toward restaurant) and parking for $107.00
– Banquet will be held at the newly remodeled Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center overlooking the Elk River
– Several Chapters have contacted us about sponsoring a Gold Star Family member to attend all/part of the convention. There will be a Gold Star Family luncheon on Friday.
– USMC Warrant Officer Hershel ‘Woody’ Williams, CMoH Recipient of the Battle of Iwo Jima, will discuss some of his efforts in remembering our Gold Star Families across this great Nation.
– We are currently working with two venues to show the movie ’12 Strong’. It is a copyright issue that we hope can be worked out.
– Welcome Night at the WV State Capitol Complex will be a great experience for everyone, plus free food and drink!
– Gold Star Motorcycle Ride will be held on Saturday and terminate at the picnic
– SOF Aircraft and Mobility Display will be during the picnic on Saturday
o Special Forces Association Parachute Team
o USASOC Black Daggers Parachute Demonstration Team
o Band – TBD
– The main (large) hospitality suite will be operated by Chapter 68 and have SF vendors (Chapter Sales and SF Museum) co-located in the suite
o Two additional satellite hospitality suites located in the Marriott
o One satellite hospitality suite located in the Embassy Suites
o One satellite hospitality suite located in the Holiday Inn Express (Looking for a Chapter to Host)
