All Airborne Day 2024
On August 10, 2024, Chapter 19, along with the NJ Chapter of the 82nd Airborne Division Association, coordinated a ceremony at monument where the 1st US Army Parachute Test Platoon paratrooper descended by parachute testing the concept of delivering soldiers into combat from aircraft in flight.
The monument is located on the shoulder of Route 130 in Robbinsville, NJ. Paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division came up for the ceremony from Ft. Liberty, and Chapter 19 members took them to dinner the night before to Baker’s American Grille, where they gave chapter 19 the back room for a private party.
Also in attendance for the ceremony were paratroopers from the 404th Civil Affairs Bn (A) out of JB MDL, NJ State Senator Linda Greenstein, and the 63rd Army Band which played “Blood on the Risers”. All the paratroopers, former and current, had lunch at the American Legion after the ceremony for a perfect, “All Airborne Day”
