Dave Christian OCS Hall of Fame

On May 6, SGM (R) Myles Cappiello, our Chapter President, attended and spoke at a ceremony in Newtown PA honoring Captain David Christian upon his induction into the OCS Hall of Fame on May 1 at Fort Benning. U.S. Representative Brian Fitzpatrick also spoke.

David, a Chapter member, earned the Distinguished Service Cross, two Silver Stars, and seven purple hearts, for his actions in 1968 and 1969 in Vietnam. Since his military service he has been a strong and effective advocate for veterans care.  The event was held at the Newtown Athletic Club where he founded an ongoing 12-week veterans health and fitness program named Victor Six whose motto is “A Strong Mind Fuels a Strong Body.” David was active in the founding of Vietnam Veterans of America. Diane Reitz, David’s executive assistant organized the ceremony.  A sharply dressed color guard from the Philadelphia Chapter of the 82nd Airborne Association presented the colors. The 304th Civil Affairs Brigade MC’d the event and provided logistical support, and some military vehicles for show. It was well attended by veterans, friends and family. Tuyet Nguyen and Choung Van Tran, an appreciative couple, provided a very tasty Vietnamese fare.

Captain Christian was also honored and welcomed home at a ceremony earlier in the week, also on the occasion of his inductance in the OCS Hall of Fame.  On May 2 he was transported via motorcade from the Philadelphia Airport to the Ben Salem Municipal Complex where he was met by family, friends, veterans, and appreciative citizens. His daughter, Bucks County Prothonotary, spoke as did Congressman Fitzpatrick and officials from Ben Salem Twp. and Bucks County.  Our Chapter VP, Tim Davis, attended.
