Bataan Memorial Death March
along the Jersey Shore Boardwalk
Honorary distance (14.2 miles) and 10K distance (6.2 miles)
This ruck/walk is to commemorate the 65-mile Bataan forced march in April 1942 where over 1000
American and 9000 Filipino allies died.
Date: March 16, 2024
Start Times: Opening ceremony: 7:45am 14.2-mile event: 8:00am 6.2-mile event: 8:10am
Location: Ruck/Walk begins in Asbury Park and goes to turnaround point in Sea Girt- Almost all on boardwalk
Starting point: South end of boardwalk in Asbury Park.
You can march with or without a rucksack. Suggested ruck weight is 35+ pounds BUT THERE ARE NO WEIGH INS,
so any weight is perfectly fine! Although there is no 10K event for the actual event at White Sands Missile
Range in NM, Chapter 19 is holding the 10K so our older members, family members and all others can enjoy the
walk (However, you must register for the virtual Honorary march). Chapter XIX will support the march with a
recovery vehicle and medics as well as water points along the route This is a rain or shine event. No rain dates.
When you register, you will be prompted to a website (It’s Your Race) to download an app to monitor your time
and distance via GPS. This will place you into the actual event in New Mexico and upon completion, your time
will be in the place you finish nationwide. The cost is $55. and you will receive in the mail a “T” shirt, medal, and
race bib.
