Girl Scout Care Packages
Lawrence Taylor, Sr., President of SFA Chapter XIX, presented Certificates of Appreciation to Girl Scout Troops 1406 and 11137, Gilbertsville, PA, for their efforts in supporting the Chapter’s gifting support of a deployed detachment. Aside from other chapter members who participated in the gifting exercise, this particular group of girl scouts collected numerous items, then packaged and shipped the parcels, thirteen in all.
The idea came from Nicole Shimukonas, of Troop 1406, who is one of two grand daughters of chapter member Bill Shimukonas. The other grand daughter Alexis Shimukonas accepted the plaque for Troop 11137. It should also be noted that, in addition to the personal notes penned by the girls that they enclosed with the packages (notes that always warm our hearts), they, in appreciation of Larry’s presence at the scout meeting, rewarded him with a root beer float…a fine way to close out the event. These young patriots are led superbly by Scout Leader Sue Seip and Assistant Scout Leader Becca Lacock of Troop 1406, Scout Leader Kathy Huey of Troop 11137.
