Lew Jones

 

Lewis James Jones, age 83, of Manchester, New Jersey, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024. Lewis was born in Mahanoy City, PA. Lewis served his country in the US Army. He was enlisted for 23 years before he retired at the rank of Sgt First Class in 1994. He was a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division and a Green Beret with the U.S. Army Special Forces. He was also a life member of the Special Forces Association in Fort Bragg, NC. Lewis worked as a tractor trailer driver for Roadway Express, N. Brunswick and was a member of Teamsters Local 701. Lewis and his family lived in Kearny, NJ, and then he and Madeline moved to Toms River in 1971 before settling in Leisure Knoll development in Manchester, NJ, in 2013. While living there, Lewis was a member of the Leisure Knoll Veterans Club, the Fishing Club, and the Organ Club (Music Appreciation).

 

 

Lewis is survived by his wife of 57 years, Madeline “Cookie” Jones, his son Lewis Jones and his wife Beth, of Toms River, NJ, and daughter Christine Jones and her husband Mike Keller of Medford, NJ, his 5 grandchildren: Jenna and her husband Mark, Evan and his wife Christine, Katarina, Brooke and Blake, and his 2 great grandchildren; Luca and Mason. He is also survived by his brother David Jones. He was predeceased by his brother William Jones and his sister Margretta Jones.

 

 

A Memorial Service for Lewis will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 1 to 4 pm at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Road, Manchester, NJ 08759.
